“Growing up with Type 1 Diabetes, it was always exciting to meet someone who was like you: someone also living with Type 1 Diabetes. While attending Samford University, our friends had mentioned Everett and my names to one another because we both had T1D. One evening, we finally had the pleasure of meeting, and we immediately hit it off. I had always dreamed of marrying someone with T1D, just like me; and, my dreams finally came true after four years of dating. With a view overlooking Birmingham, Everett proposed in his mom’s backyard, which he had filled with candles and photos.”– Katherine
