Matthew and Rebekah met at bar in Mobile where they were both watching college football. He is an Auburn fan and she is an Alabama fan; however, he noticed her when she walked in the bar and knew he had to go up and talk to her. When she was leaving, he asked for her number and if he could call her to go on a date. He called as soon as she left and the rest is history.
Matthew proposed on Thanksgiving day at Rebekah’s family’s bay house in Fairhope in front of both his and her parents. It’s always been a special place to Rebekah who has many childhood memories there, but it’s where Rebekah and Matthew spent a lot of time falling in love, so it became a special place to both of them. Rebekah’s father had also proposed to her mom out on the pier at the same house, so Matthew knew this was the place to do it and to make it an intimate family event.

“Find a great team, take your time, and have fun with it all! Remember that at the end of the day you’re not just planning a wedding, you’re preparing for a marriage. Keep having date nights and keep falling in love.
We are both detail-oriented people, but we didn’t get carried away with stress because we chose to focus on the details that were most meaningful to us. Instead of trends or what we wanted guests to think or say about our wedding, we put an emphasis on how we wanted them to feel – all welcomed like family gathering together and celebrating love.” – Rebekah
