“Growing up, I would always tell my parents that I would never get married. That quickly changed when I met Aaron. I never had a vision of what my wedding day would look like until I sat down with our wedding planner, who happened to be a close family friend whom I had known since I was a little girl. After talking about what I knew I did not want, she was able to come up with a beautiful vision of what we did want: pies instead of cake, bright colors and flowers, and a centerpiece that would be the talk of the night. When we walked into our reception for our first dance, my husband and I were astonished by all of the bright pink, green, yellow, and orange flowers throughout the room. What really took our breath away was the chandelier of 1,000 paper origami birds hanging above the dance floor. I got the idea of the birds from scrolling through Instagram, and Anna Wynn was able to incorporate the birds throughout the wedding day. She came up with the idea of getting a family friend to paint watercolor images of small dainty birds across large panels to hang above the band and to be the background of the bars. Those same birds were on the cocktail napkins and the coozies placed on the custom bar. The subtle details tied the room together and made for a picture perfect wedding night.” – Sarah Hayden

From the Groom

“‘She’s beautiful but awfully blurry,’ I think to myself. I wipe the tears from eyes to reveal my soon-to-be wife grinning at me at our first look. I didn’t understand the depth of a wedding dress until I saw the elegant design of hers. It was more beautiful than I could have imagined. After a few pictures, we huddled inside to escape the cold rainy December day and visit with our closest friends. Old friends and family members started to trickle in to warm the halls of St Luke’s Episcopal Church. After 12 months of wedding planning, things had gotten real. I was finally nervous. I walk my mother to the front pew, then return to the back of the aisle to walk with my father to the front of the church. The aisle had grown in those couple minutes and stuck to my feet like quicksand as I lifted them onto the steps before the alter. There was a slight murmur among the church, while I waited in silence trying not to lock my knees. Finally, the doors flung open and the ambient noise died. The crowd left the pews. The only sight was her; the only sound, her footsteps. In what felt like a few moments, we exchanged vows and rings and forged the beginning of our marriage.” – Aaron

“When we entered the ballroom at Vestavia Country Club, origami cranes flew around the chandelier while the band sang, ‘Sara Smile.’ Each rehearsed step fell into place as we danced around the hall. After the final spin and careful dip, the party began. We cut the wedding pie, mingled with friends and family, and even reunited with my college band on stage. We couldn’t have planned a better night to celebrate the beginning of our lifelong journey together.” – Aaron
