“If you had told my middle school self that I’d one day marry my ultimate crush – the handsome, older football player from my rival school – I would have been over the moon. But back then, even one of my best guy friends, who is also his cousin, laughed and said, ‘Good luck, that’ll never happen!’

Fast forward about 16 years, and not only am I married to that football player, but we still joke with his cousin about that bold prediction gone wrong. Fate has a funny way of working things out. My husband and I share the same name, Tyler, which has led our friends and family to affectionately dub us Boy Tyler and Girl Tyler. It has become our thing, a playful reminder that we were meant to be. We had both moved away from our hometown, but found our way back in 2021. That’s when our paths finally crossed again at our best friend’s house, watching an SEC football game. It wasn’t love at first re-sight, at least not on his part, because it took him until Super Bowl weekend to finally ask for my number. One date later, and the rest is history.

On New Year’s Eve 2023, he got down on one knee, and by December 28, 2024, we officially became Mr. and Mrs. Tyler forever. Looking back, I guess my middle school self was onto something after all.” – Girl Tyler
