April 27, 2024 – Lake Martin
“My mom decided we were going out to dinner with my granddad at SpringHouse to celebrate the family’s April birthdays. However, it was a very busy week and I tried my best to cancel. Somehow Dylan talked me into going after crying my eyes out over him getting all his hair cut off that morning, and our water being turned off in the middle of my shower that day from a pipe that burst. He told me we had to go by Children’s Harbor before dinner to look at some power poles for a work project. As we were walking toward the water, I start to realize we aren’t around any poles and suddenly I see a photographer pop out from behind a structure. We made it to the platform that overlooks the water when it hit me that he was about to pop the question. I completely lost it and was crying uncontrollably – so uncontrollably that Dylan started crying and couldn’t get out any of the words he planned on saying to me. It was one of the best moments of my life even after all the obstacles we had that day. Dylan planned the perfect engagement with every little detail I had ever mentioned to him. After taking tons of pictures and reenacting the proposal (because I’m an ugly crier), we got in the truck and he said, ‘I have another surprise for you. You might want to wait to call everybody.’
We drove to my grandfather’s lake house where all of our closest family and friends were waiting and ready to celebrate us. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect engagement or a more perfect fiancé to make it all happen.” – Payton
The Color Story
“The inspiration I had for our wedding color scheme was inspired by a desire for a classic, elegant, and timeless aesthetic. I always knew I wanted to get married on Lake Martin like my parents did. I grew up going to our family lake house and always admired the beautiful colors of the lake and its surroundings. Our colors were white, taupe, and green. I knew choosing all white flowers with greenery would be the perfect palette to achieve my desired inspiration.” – Payton
