April 22, 2023   –   Huntsville

“Our engagement is not traditional and we did not have the ‘surprise moment’ that is typical with most couples. Our engagement was something intimate and sweet at home, and was exactly what we wanted. After eight years together with military challenges, job changes, and multiple state moves; we wanted it to be just us so we could enjoy the moment together.

We had originally wanted to get married when we moved to Huntsville in 2020, but we all know how that year ended, so plans changed. In 2022, we picked up where had left things and started planning again together. We picked out my engagement ring together and were lucky enough to be gifted my grandmother’s  beautiful wedding band to use as my own. To our surprise, about six months into the wedding planning, Dan was asked to be part of a special team to travel for work for seven months in Hawaii. We spent those seven months with many phone calls, video messages, and in-person visits to go over details for our wedding. He returned 24 days before our wedding. It was a whirlwind, but the day was everything we could have dreamed. Almost ten years to the day after we first met, we said our, ‘I dos.'” – Courtney

Advice From the Bride

“Not every person’s opinion needs to be taken into account. This is your special day. Focus on what you want as a couple, have that be your main goal, and stick to it no matter what. If you have questions, ask trusted sources and trusted vendors – they’ve done this a few times! Most importantly, enjoy this time with your soon-to-be spouse, laugh at the small things, and be present in the moment.” – Courtney
