May 16, 2026 – Loxley
“Lake and I first knew each other in high school through mutual friends. Although we attended different schools, we went to his high school prom together in 2016. Years later, we reconnected at Auburn University after Lake transferred there following his baseball career. We went to my sorority formal together in 2020, and we have been together ever since. What started as a friendship grew into a love story I never could have imagined.
On December 27, 2024, Lake proposed after spending the day doing some of our favorite things together: hunting, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors. That evening, he asked me to take a walk on our favorite trail on his family’s farm. I was in a sweatshirt and jeans and completely clueless. Lake had even designed and selected my engagement ring entirely on his own, making the surprise all the more meaningful. It was the most perfect proposal and one of my favorite memories of us.
Ten years after that first prom date, we found ourselves standing at the altar together, surrounded by our families and lifelong friends. In the years between, Lake graduated from medical school, we both began new jobs, and we bought our first home in Jackson, Mississippi, where he began his surgical residency. Our wedding felt like the beginning of another chapter in a story that started with friendship – and somehow brought us full circle back to that first dance, ten years later.” – Grace
Advice From the Couple
“Our wedding was a celebration of family, tradition, and the place that shaped so many of my favorite memories. We married at Steelwood Country Club, where my grandparents have called home for years and where I spent countless holidays and spring afternoons growing up. From the twelve-foot cross my grandfather built by hand to heirlooms from my grandmother woven throughout the décor, nearly every detail carried a piece of our family history. Surrounded by generations of family and lifelong friends, we began our marriage in a place that had already given us so many memories, and created our favorite one yet.” Grace & Lake
