In our 2021 edition, we shared Savannah as a driveable destination for newlyweds in the article,  Honeymoon Near Home, featuring our friends at Kessler Collection, which has multiple properties in the Southern staple city. Today we are pleased to share with you the JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District and its fabulous spaces for weddings and private events.

For the Alabama couple interested in a destination wedding without the jet lag, Savannah is the perfect selection with its charming style, rich history, and fabulous hospitality. Created from the bones of a former power plant on the Savannah River, the JW Marriott is a luxury property within the Kessler Collection family, therefore offering all the hallmarks of the Kessler experience.

With multiple ballroom spaces, restaurants, bars, and areas for guests to explore nearby in the heart of Savannah, the JW Marriott is ready to host a full weekend of events to make your destination wedding spectacular. Let’s take a peek inside the Amethyst Ballroom and the Salzburg Ballroom to help start painting the picture of your big day.

Amethyst Ballroom

The theme of the Amethyst ballroom is “The Beauty and the Beast.” The beauty and romance influence comes from the Three Muses building, inspired by European romance, while the beast is the industrial design influence of the Generator Hall. The artwork of the carpet in the ballroom was hand-drawn and digitized. The pattern subtly incorporates the shape of the dinosaur bones, found in the 135 foot replica located in the Generator Hall. – Kessler Collection

The Salzburg Ballroom

The Salzburg Ballroom (below) and pre-function space (above) takes guests from sea to land. It features navy velvet draperies cascading from above, representing the sails of Salzburg ships arriving in Savannah in the 1730s. The patterns on the ceiling and carpet mimic the undulating movements of the river in the pre-function space and transition into land in the ballroom. The ballroom features 12 custom 4-tier crystal chandeliers that model the urban grid of Historic Savannah, including the new Plant Riverside District. The custom wall sconces coordinate with the chandeliers and replicate the urban grid of Plant Riverside District. – Kessler Collection

If a destination wedding in beautiful Savannah is right for you, we certainly suggest a tour of the JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District. Their team would love to welcome you with the Kessler Collection experience to make your wedding dreams come true.
