“We met as babies at Shades Mountain Baptist Church. From then, we grew up as family friends, attending dinners, carpooling, and enjoying summer pool days. We didn’t get along well at all as kids. As we went through high school, our feelings changed, and we began dating. We graduated and then dated through our time in college at Samford. After five years of dating, he proposed on the dock at his grandparents’ lake house where we spent so many summers. I knew it was coming, but I still fell to my knees with excitement at the realization that our whole lives had led to this moment!” – Emily
Advice From the Bride
“Trust your vendors. At times I felt it was so easy to worry about the details that were out of my control. Your vendors are professionals for a reason. Let them do the work, while you soak in the moments and details.
The morning of our wedding, we grabbed coffee, and went to sit on the outdoor altar where our ceremony would later be held. We chose not to do a first look, so we wanted a moment for just the two of us before we went our separate ways for the day. We shared our personal vows, gave each other a gift, and prayed over our marriage. There were no photos or videos, just the two of us. It was the most special moment from the day, and I am so glad we had that time to just be still with each other.” – Emily
