“We live in Auburn, and are huge Auburn basketball fans. For Thanksgiving in 2021, we decided to go to the Auburn basketball tournament in the Bahamas and take Morgan’s family with us. This also happened to be the same week as our one-year dating anniversary – I had my suspicions. But my family and friends did such a good job of hiding it that I wasn’t convinced this would be the time.

On November 24, 2021, Daniel told me at breakfast that he had a special sunset dinner planned on the beach that we would go to after Auburn played their basketball game at 4:00pm. He also informed me that I had to wear my nice dinner dress to the basketball game because I wouldn’t have time to change afterward. The Auburn basketball game that night was intense. It ended up going into triple overtime! During the second overtime with the score tied, Daniel told me that we had to leave or we would miss our dinner. (This was odd. We never left basketball games early). So we hurried out of the game and practically sprinted across the resort to try not to miss sunset.

When we got to the beach, Daniel pointed to a boat on the horizon to distract me. When I turned around, he was down on one knee with a ring in his hand. It was the easiest, “Yes,” of my life!” – Morgan

Advice from the Bride

“Planning our wedding was a whirlwind and so much fun. We wanted to get married in the spring, so we only had a three-month engagement. Having a wedding planner was a lifesaver, as we both work full-time. Mary from Mary Me Brides was such a gift to me in the planning process. She made all of my dreams come to life and took care of every detail with the utmost excellence.

The week leading up to our wedding was the most perfect weather – 70 degrees, sunny, and everything was blooming. Then a few days before, Mary called me and told me she thought we should order some heaters because a cold front was moving in. On the morning of our wedding there were actually snow flurries in South Alabama. I mention all this to say that no matter how much planning you do or how perfect you want your wedding to be, there are some things that are uncontrollable, like the weather. Something will inevitably go wrong. You can choose to let that get you down or you can choose to be joyful. Besides, you’re getting married! And that is more important than anything else that happens on your wedding day.

We chose to focus on all of the details that were perfect instead. My wedding dress happened to have pockets, so Daniel had someone bring me hot-hands to put in there to keep me warm during our outdoor ceremony.

Looking back, the day couldn’t have been more perfect. One thing I am so grateful for was having incredible photographers and videographers to capture the day. It went by so quickly and I love being able to look back on the pictures and videos.” – Morgan
