Q: How would you best describe Avenue D to potential couples?
A: We describe our design aesthetic as, “bougie industrial.” The space itself is unique enough that it won’t look like everyone else’s wedding, but is also able to fit into your specific design. Our outdoor area, which is almost the same size as the indoor space, has a truly Birmingham view of Sloss Furnaces. Almost year-round, more people can be found out there during receptions than inside. We are one of the only venues in the city of Birmingham with such a large, unshared outdoor space.
Q: How did the venue come to life?
A: Well, it was a completely impulsive decision. We were looking for office space and a bit of storage space for a previous business. Our realtor showed us this property and it didn’t work for what we were thinking; however, we saw the location and the view and I asked, “Why don’t we open an event venue?” Chuck said, “Okay!” and the rest is history.
Q: What have you enjoyed most about the events that Avenue D has hosted?
A: We really do love meeting so many different couples and their families and friends from all over the world as well as seeing how each couple has their own special thing that they bring to their wedding. It makes our day to get comments from the couples and their guests about how the wedding was even better than they thought it was going to be. What truly sets us apart, however, is our customer service. Our attention to detail and personal involvement are our superpowers.
Q: What do you look forward to most working together on this venue?
A: Truthfully, just seeing what it all becomes. Because we had no plans to do this, we have no expectations. Everything has been a wonderful surprise! We also love seeing how our clients bring their creativity and personalities into the space to make it their own. If you can dream it, you can do it at Avenue D.
