October 12, 2024   –   Birmingham

“We first met thanks to my little brother. Graham attended Rhodes College in Memphis and played on the men’s basketball team as a freshman in 2020. I was excited to learn that his team would be traveling to play in Birmingham, where I was in school. My mom and I enjoyed watching his game and were later invited to the team dinner. By the end of the evening, the tall and handsome senior team captain sat down in the empty chair next to me and struck up a conversation. Owen and I laughed and talked easily that first evening about our lives and mutual friends. There seemed to be an instant connection. We kept in contact and I later visited Owen in Memphis.

Feelings developed quickly for both of us, despite the inability to spend lots of time together in person. We’ll be forever grateful for Facetime! It was a struggle to decide whether or not we could make a long-distance relationship work. We tried to move on at one point, but quickly learned that life was not the same without one another. Trips to visit each other consumed our weekends for 2.5 years until Owen finally moved to Birmingham to be with me permanently. Living in the same city reaffirmed how we felt about one another and Owen asked me to be his wife. He proposed in November 2023 in our backyard with the help of my two best friends. It was sweet and simple and a complete surprise! After having spent those years apart in the beginning of our relationship, we are overjoyed to get to spend the rest of our lives together.” – Sarah Grace

Wedding Day Memories

“Our wedding day was even better than we could have ever imagined! The weather was perfect, the location was beautiful, the band was awesome, and having our friends and family all together was so special and fun. There were so many great moments, but I will have to say the most memorable moment from the reception was when I looked up and saw my 85-year-old grandmother dancing on the stage with the band. The crowd went crazy!” – Sarah Grace
