“Zae and I were high school sweethearts. Although we went to different schools, after our first date we always made time for each other. During high school we were each other’s anchors in the whirlwind of growing up.
College decisions came and we chose different career studies, but with the same commitment to each other. This is when we really knew that it was more than just a high school romance – it was the beginning of our forever.
During our college years, our love grew stronger and we knew we were meant to be together for a lifetime. We began to dream of the perfect wedding to celebrate our love and life together.
Zae planned a perfect proposal at the beautiful Birmingham Botanical Gardens. I was so impressed that he pulled off the ultimate surprise! He thought of every little detail and made sure to include our families and friends. Later that evening, we returned to our college town and I got to share the big news with all of my sorority sisters that I was getting married! It is a day that I will never forget.
Now, as we look to our future, we know that not everyone is meant to marry a person they grow up with. But when it turns out that way, it is special. You grow up together and, God willing, you will grow old together! We smile about our years together and feel that we have a special and powerful experience to tell our future children.
