Meg, a nurse on the TBICU unit at UAB, had Austin’s grandfather as a patient for a short time. Austin’s mother met Meg and insisted that she meet her son, Austin, when he was visiting. They met, went on a date the next night, and then Meg left to continue her travel nursing assignment in St. Louis. Immediately after Meg’s return to Birmingham, they started seeing each other again and became inseparable.
